Hi, my name's Dr Warrick Bishop. I'm a cardiologist and welcome to my Healthy Heart Minute.

It's important that when we manage patients we remember that some of our medications need to be monitored. Really, really important. Part of that monitoring ensures best patient care in the long term.

There's a number of medications. One of the common ones, particularly one that we see in atrial fibrillation, is Digoxin. Digoxin slows the heart rate and it can build up particularly in people who might have some problems with their kidneys. We can track Digoxin by simply doing a blood test. It's very simple, but it is important that we keep an eye on it.

There's lots of drugs that we tend to monitor, and I've had the chance to speak with Dr. Alastair Beg a friend, a colleague, and an esteemed cardiologist based in Adelaide, who we share some of our thoughts around monitoring drugs in the situation of cardiology and best care for individual patients.

So that podcast is linked to this video. Check it out if that's something you're interested.

Till next time. I'm gonna wish you live as well as possible, for as long as possible. Take care and bye for now!
