Hi, my name's Dr Warrick Bishop and welcome to my Healthy Heart Minute. Often is the case, patients wonder how often do they need to see their doctor? Well, an interesting question and an important one.

From my perspective, when someone's sick and relatively unstable, of course we want to see those people more often to make sure we keep a close eye, but as people become more stable with whatever the condition is that we are treating, we can start to extend those visits.

In general terms, I think it's a really good idea if you've had a major issue with your heart to remain locked in with your cardiologist, together with your general practitioner. That's important because sometimes the literature, our knowledge changes, new studies, new data becomes available, and the only way we can get that to you is if you remain in contact with the specialist who should be most familiar with that information.

I've had the chance to speak with Angela Hartley, who's a specialist in rehabilitation and chronic issues with regard to heart health. That interview is attached to this via link. Check it out if you want more information. It's a really important space.

I'm gonna wish you the very best and bye for now!
