Hi, my name's Dr Warrick Bishop and welcome to my Healthy Heart Minute. This particular minute is not particularly medical, but over the years I've had so many patients ask me, how did you end up being a cardiologist? Well, I can share that with you. I'm gonna tell you a little bit, but I've got a podcast attached to this video so if you're interested and you wanna find out more, have a listen to that.

When I started life, I thought I was gonna be an engineer or a draftsman or even an architect. Things really unfolded for me through late high school through those years, just before university, and I ended up in medicine. I have to say, I wasn't like a duck to water, and although I did okay academically, I didn't really feel like I was always made to be a doctor.

Some people are born knowing what they want to do in medicine, and I've got friends who are cardiothoracic surgeons who knew that's what they wanted to be from the time they made plans for their own profession. Me, I bumped around. I found out, through career choices, that I was colorblind. Good news is you don't need normal color to do cardiology. There's nothing there that can confront a cardiologist that's colorblind. So that's where I've ended up.

But if you're interested in my story, check it out. It's on the podcast attached to this video. The link should be easy to see.

I'm gonna wish you the very best. Until next time, take care and bye for now!
