Hi, my name is Dr Warrick Bishop. I'm a cardiologist and welcome to my Healthy Heart Minute. Today, I have a couple of interesting, tantalizing topics for you.

The first is the technology that's being evolved to help us assess a regular pulse has developed to a camera system that we can literally almost be taking a selfie. And that camera system can evaluate the flushing or the impulses of blood into the face and discern whether it's regular or irregular. That's a photo technique called Plethysmography. I can say it very well, but I could probably spell it for you if need be.

I've done some more detail on that very topic on a podcast which is linked to this video. I also cover a bit of stuff on the left main coronary disease, the main artery in the heart being affected by narrowing or blockage and how we address it these days, whether we use stents, which are little scaffolds to open it up or whether we take people for bypass grafting. Well, to some degree. The jury's still out a little bit on what the best way forward is. And to a large degree, it's swings of individual patients and exactly what their anatomy looks like. Anatomy referring to how their plumbing or their arteries are light out. Again, that's in the same podcast.

So if you're interested in really interesting stuff about atrial fibrillation and photosensitivity cameras that can detect it or you're interested in finding out more about arteries and how we can deal with those problems, please check out the podcast with more detail. I'm going to wish you the very best until next time. Take care and bye for now.
