Hi, my name is Dr Warrick Bishop and welcome to my Healthy Heart Minute. I'd like to talk about PCSK9 inhibitors. Proprotein Convertase Subtilisin/Kexin Number Nine inhibitors. Well, what are they? They're white lower cholesterol. We know about changing the way we eat. We know about Statins that alter an enzyme system in the liver. We know about a medication called Azetimibe which is sort of a cholesterol binder into the gut. But PCSK9 inhibitors are a new class or group of drugs that as a protein that's linked to the cholesterol receptor. Really interesting the way they work. Basically, if we can target that PCSK9 receptor we can lower cholesterol levels very effectively.

I'll put together a podcast on the very topic. So if you're interested in one of these new class of agents to lower cholesterol, have a listen and get a bit more information. Till next time. Of course, I'll wish you the very best. Take care and bye for now.
