Hi, my name is Dr. Warrick Bishop and I'm a cardiologist. Question is, does stress cause heart attacks? Well, turns out it really can. There is a syndrome which is like a broken heart syndrome from too much stress. We call it Apical ballooning syndrome. It's also being called Takotsubo cardiomyopathy. Don't expect you to remember that but the long and the short of it is with very stressful situations, very, very stressful situations, some people more commonly women, more commonly in middle years to lady years can have such an outpouring of adrenalin-like substances during a very stressful episode that they can impact the way the heart works and, in fact, it blows out and doesn't work properly. So there is such a thing as a broken heart from stress.

I've done a podcast on the very topic. The link to that is below. So please feel free to have a listen to that if you're interested. Until next time. I do wish you the best. Please don't have a broken heart and don't die from a heart attack. Goodbye.
