Hi, my name's Dr Warrick Bishop, and I'm a cardiologist. I'd like to talk about exercise strain on the heart. I get asked about exercise all the time. Look, I love people exercising, but there are situations where you can go too far. Probably the strain from high-intensity isometric exercise, which is where you keep the muscles the same length but increases the strain like weightlifting can really raise blood pressure. Raising blood pressure can put strain on the heart and thickened it up. No good. So, too extreme in terms of weightlifting too much. In terms of endurance training. Extreme endurance training can also put strain on the heart. The heart can dilate to accommodate to deal with that long endurance type activity and the heart can stretch and dilate. Too much of that can be a problem of its own. So please, lots of exercise, not at the extreme ranges because that may not be the best for you.

If you're after more information, I've done a podcast. Links should be below. Please enjoy that. In the meantime, exercise, look after yourself. Don't die from a heart attack and goodbye.
